What is technological determinism?
Technological determinism is a theory according to which the technology of a society determines the development of its cultural values and social structures.
Many people believe that this term was first originated by an American sociologist Thorstein Veblen.
Some European believe that the German economist and philosopher Karl Marx was the first significant elaborator of technological determinism.
Langdon Winner, who is a chair of Humanities and social sciences in the department of science and technologies, also has researched technological determinism. Langdon winner gives two hypotheses, which are:
- The technology of society is a primary influencer of the various ways in which a society exists.
- Frequent changes in technology are the primary sources that lead to a change in society.
According to the above hypothesis, the improvement in technical equipment in society can increase the development of cultural values and social structures.
What is augmented reality?
Augmented reality is a technology that projects computer-generated images in the real world. These images are enhanced and, in some cases, are touchable.
AR technology also helps in enhancing the senses such as sight, smelling, and hearing by adding artificial sounds, smells, and graphics that don’t exist in the real world.
Furthermore, there are four types of Augmented reality, which are:
- Markerless AR
- Marker Based AR
- Projection Based AR
- Superimposition Based AR
Benefits of using augmented reality
Engages and excites your audience
When you have products and want to engage more people with your brands, augmented reality can help you.
Augmented reality can help in attracting people towards the products and outlets with computer-generated images in the real-world. This will also help you to build the interest of people in your brand and product.
For example, your customers visit your store and use AR to swipe through outfits and find the best one they like.
With the help of augmented reality, once they settle or choose an outfit or design, they can change their sizes in-store and can try it in the real world.
Provides audience with valuable visuals
Many people face troubles, how these clothes will look at them. It doesn’t matter; whether it’s a piece of furniture, a piece of clothing, they struggle to see how this product will look.
With the help of this technology, the brands can help their users to visualize the product in reality.
Puts your audience in control
The audience during shopping doesn’t like controlled shopping.
Most people, especially ladies, want to shop in a way that is perfectly suitable for them.AR technology helps its audience choose their experience.
However, every type of augmented reality has its benefits.
For example, superimposition based AR can help people to place the furniture in their home and choose the best location according to the room and sizes.
This will help them to buy perfect items that fit in their free space. This will also help them to choose; where LED TV will fit perfectly.
